Cold Air Rushes In (2025)
Cold Air Rushes In is a piece that examines memory, abandonment and decay, through the lens of textile arts. A narrative story, told through found footage, voice recordings, textile pieces, and an ambient soundtrack, it tells the story of a dream, or somewhere adjacent to dreaming, where the narrator rediscovers something once thought lost; a lace tablecloth from his grandmothers kitchen. This thing, which as a child he adored like a stuffed animal, became a best friend to him. But in a society where “you can buy anything”, this friend is soon forgotten, not even to be searched for. We are reminded of how quickly we abandon the things we supposedly hold dear in search of new, shinier things. A vapidness and egoism of believing ephemeral things will wait for us if we are so inclined, “If you don’t shut the door, cold air rushes in”.
